Perro Salchicha Tallado en Madera de Copal, pintado tipo Alebrije

This magnificent alebrije is an authentic Oaxacan copal wood carving. It is entirely hand-carved, painted with thin brushes, and decorated with acrylic paintings. It was carved in the workshop of the Jimenez family, heirs of the Manuel Jimenez technique, who is recognized as the pioneer of wood carving techniques in Mexico. Their alebrijes are unique, using traditional designs and not Zapotec symbols. This carving is one of our most unique pieces. It depicts a dachshund, painted mainly in black, contrasted with finely detailed blue strokes that simulate an animal's fur. The detail of the fur and face are outstanding works. Also, it is carved from a single block of copal wood, a quality highly valued by Mexican folk art collectors.
